New clear classification system
The RAL D2 fan deck shows all 1,625 colours of the RAL DESIGN system on 9 colours per page. The finding of colour shades is facilitated due to the arrangement of colours by the criteria hue (H), lightness (L) and chroma (C). The foundation of the RAL DESIGN system is the the CIELab colour space, which is internationally used since 1976.

The fan deck RAL E3 contains all 490 colours from the RAL EFFECT collection. The 420 solid colours (semi matt) are based on waterborne paint systems, the 70 metallic colours (high gloss) are based on acrylic paints. Each page displays the metallic colour that harmonises with the six solid colours.
Three levels of thickness – 0.3 cm, 0.2 cm and 0.1 cm – show each colour at different levels of opacity
Three different surface textures – high gloss polished, VDI 24 and VDI 42 – show users the colour dependent on surface roughness
The protective sleeve for each RAL P1 PLASTICS sample contains masterbatch code,colormetric measures, absolute values, reflectance curve, distance to the plastics original standard
